Materials

At Bax Jewels, gold is not simply a metal, but the result of a perfect chemical and artistic equation.

All our jewelry is crafted exclusively from 18-karat gold (750/1000 fineness). This means that every gram of metal is 75% pure gold, while the remaining 25% is composed of carefully balanced noble alloys. It is this secret "recipe" that gives the jewelry the hardness necessary for setting, the wear resistance, and the specific desired color.

Here are the technical specifications of our four golden declinations:

18 ct yellow gold:

  • Technical composition: the alloy is obtained by combining 75% pure gold with a balanced percentage of silver and copper . The silver attenuates the redness of the copper, while the latter provides mechanical resistance.
  • Characteristics: The result is a deep, warm, and intense yellow that won't fade over time. Unlike plating, the color is intrinsic to the metal. The final hand polishing enhances the gold's natural reflectivity, creating a mirrored surface ideal for showcasing emeralds and rubies.

18 ct white gold:

  • Technical composition: 75% yellow gold is added to an alloy of "whitening" metals such as silver and palladium (a rare metal from the platinum family), which neutralize the natural yellowness of the gold.

  • The finishing process: To achieve that pure, vibrant, ice-white, the jewel is subjected to a rhodium plating bath. Rhodium is an extremely precious metal that protects the jewel from oxidation and maximizes its brilliance, creating the perfect optical base for white diamonds, making them appear larger and brighter.

18 ct rose gold:

  • Technical composition: while maintaining the 750 pure gold standard, the percentage of copper in the remaining alloy is increased and the percentage of silver is decreased. It is the copper that gives the characteristic pink hue.

  • Features: Our unique alloy is designed to ensure color stability over time. It's a tough, highly durable metal that offers a warm, vintage aesthetic, particularly suited for setting brown diamonds and colored stones, creating a visually pleasing chromatic continuum.

18 ct black gold:

  • Technical composition: It is a high-quality variant of 18-karat gold , subjected to a surface treatment called black rhodium plating . This process involves applying a very thin layer of black rhodium —a metal from the platinum family—which gives the jewel an intense, dark, and luminous finish.

  • Features: It is not a simple paint, but a molecular bond on the surface. The result is a deep and elegant color, similar to anthracite, which combines the shine of the noble metal with a modern, sophisticated, and decisive aesthetic. Ideal for those seeking an alternative to classic yellow or white gold, rhodium-plated black gold expresses personality, style, and character .

  • Care note: Being a high-tech surface treatment, black gold is a "living" material that can evolve over time in the areas of greatest friction, revealing the soul of the gold underneath and telling the story of the wearer.

Hand polishing

Regardless of the alloy's color, the final stage is what sets Bax Jewels apart from mass production. We don't use industrial tumblers (which polish by indiscriminate mechanical friction).

Every single ring, bracelet, earring, and necklace is hand-polished with brushes and specialized abrasive pastes by our artisans. This allows us to reach even the most hidden crevices near the stone's prongs, ensuring a uniform shine and a silky feel that only fine jewelry can offer.
